A 27-year-old Alberta man is in custody following an early morning low-speed pursuit on the Trans-Canada highway in New Brunswick involving a backhoe.

The backhoe was finally halted with the help of the Fredericton Police and a spikebelt.

Police say alcohol is believed to have been a factor.

Luckily we have a live demonstration of a similar incident from Russia.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

And a staged but hilarious incident involving a scissor lift.

Lol. I wonder how much the snow would’ve slowed him down if it was.

Probably not very much. Related /unrelated. My friend got in trouble for a minor insurance related offense a while ago. He won when he pointed out the statue listed on his ticket said “driving a snowmobile without proper registration”

He went to traffic court by mail and simply said “I was not driving a snowmobile, it was July”.

He got a letter back that said one word. “Nullified”

I was on the freeway once when all of a sudden traffic in the middle lane started backing up. As the cars parted around the obstruction, I laughed. Some idiot in a bright yellow farm tractor was humming along the 70 mph interstate at a speedy 30 mph.

Mind you, in Texas, there are access roads that run parallel to freeways — on both sides — for almost every single mile of their length (unless you’re waaaaaaay out in the country). This tractor would have been perfectly ok and on the right side of the law had he chosen to stay on the frontage road, which still boasts a respectable 55 mph speed limit.

I got on the phone and called the police and the poor dispatcher sounded a bit weary. As soon as I said “I’m on the freeway...” she finished my sentence, saying “calling about a tractor? Yep. We’ve already got officers en route. Thank you for calling.” It was fricken hilarious.
